Shrines of Europe - Our pilgrimages to Eastern Europe take you to some of the most beautiful cities and countries in the world.
Poland is a country with strong Catholic tradition. It is home to many religious icons such as St. Faustina and Pope John Paul II. In addition to exploring Krakow we will also visit Czestochowa, the site of a Marian apparition. Sample some of the best architecture, heritage and culture in the imperial city of Prague, Czech Republic. See the well preserved Baroque and Gothic buildings before moving on to Austria. In Austria, visit Vienna and Salzburg. Follow the Sound of Music trail in Salzburg and enjoy a Strauss concert in Vienna. We will visit the Chapel of Grace which houses the Black Madonna in Altotting and visit the village of Oberammergau, where once every ten years the world famous Passion Play takes place, both in Germany.In Spain visit the small village of Garabandal where Our Lady appeared to 4 children between 1961 and 1965, before spending some time in the seaside town of Santander. In Hungary, visit Budapest, a city with colourful and exciting cultural life. Sample the old cobbles quarter of Buda and famous monuments in nearby Pest. Sample the breathtaking lakes and snow capped mountains while visiting Wengen and Interlacken in Switzerland as well as taking a day trip to the important shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Einsiedeln.

In Prague we visit the Church of Our Lady of Victory, located in Lesser Town. The church holds the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Thousands of people travel from all over the world to venerate this statue. Many people who have prayed in front of the statue have had their prayers answered and many miraculous healings have been reported. Also visit St. Vitus Cathedral. Also known as St. Wenceslas Chapel, it is the largest and most important church in the country. For centuries the coronations of the Royal Family have taken place here and it also holds the Royal Tombs. On our panoramic tour of Prague we will also see the Strahov Monastery, cathedral, Charles Bridge, Church of St. Nicholas, Little Quarter and the Old Town. See the famous Astronomical clock and the parliament buildings. We will celebrate Mass in the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, also located in the Old Town Square. This impressive Gothic structure is a dominant feature of the square with the two towers reaching 80m high.
- Poland - Krakow, Czestochowa & Warsaw
Our tour of Krakow includes Wawel Hill, Royal Chambers, the cathedral, the Jagellonian University and market square. On our tour we will visit the church of St. Florian where Blessed John Paul began his life as a curate. We will also visit the 14th century Royal Cathedral with the Royal Tombs, Sigismundus Bell and the Crypt where Polish Kings and national heroes have been laid to rest. It was here that Blessed John Paul celebrated his first Holy Mass at the altar of St. Leonard. We take a full day tour to Lagiewniki which is known as the capital of the Devine Mercy and visit the tomb of St. Faustina. Take a day trip to the notorious concentration camp at Auschwitz where many people died. At Wieliczka we visit the saltmines. In Zakopane in the Tatra mountains visit the shrine to Our Lady of Fatima. In Czestochowa, we will visit the Jasna Gora monastery, the most importnat shrine in Poland. We will visit the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin and see the icon of the Black Madonna. Drive to Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II and see his house, which is now a museum. During our time in Warsaw we will celebrate Mass in the Church of St. Stanislaua and visit the tomb and memorial to Fr. Jerzy Popieluszki. Enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour where we will see St. Anne's Church, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Krasinsky Palace, Royal Gardens and the National Opera House. Visit the Sisters of the Divine Mercy at Zytnia St and see where Sr. Faustina entered her first convent in 1925. Take a stroll through the Old Town and the Royal Castle, Old Market Square and St. John's Cathedral.
- Austria - Vienna & Salzburg
In Vienna, the capital of Austria, we see monuments, museums and palaces. Vienna is home to Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Brahams, Strauss and the Vienna Boys choir. Take in an evening Strauss concert and enjoy a short cruise on the River Danube. We will also take a tour to the Vienna Woods and take in the spectacular surroundings. Participate in a panormaic city sightseeing our of the highlights including the Stephensplatz, Rathausplatz, Ringtrasse, Hunderwasserhaus and Schonbrunn Palace. While in Salzburg, we will follow the Sound of Music trail, see Leopoldskon Palace and the home and birthplace of Mozart. There will be an optional tour to visit the famous mountain retreat of Adolf Hitler known as Hitler's Eagle Nest. This chalet style structure was built and given to Adolf Hitler as a 50th birthday gift. We can explore the rooms and take in the extremely impressive scenery from this mountain peak.
- Germany - Oberammergau & Altotting
On our visit to Germany we will stop off at a small village known as Oberammergau. Oberammergau is popular as every ten years the residents perform a Passion Play in thanksgiving for God having spared their village from the bubonic plague. Altotting is often called the "Lourdes of Germany" due to the thousands of pilgrims who come every year in search of healings. It is believed that a young mother prayer for her child in front of the statue after an accident and miraculously the child survived. There have been many healings attributed to the shrine at Altotting. While there, we will visit the shrine of the Black Madonna in the Chapel of Grace.
- Hungary - Gyor & Budapest
Located in Northern Hungary is the town of Gyor. It is here we visit the shrine of the Irish Madonna on display in the cathedral and we hear the story of Galway Bishop Walter Lynch and how he came to Hungary. 2013 marks the 350th anniversary of the death of Bishop Walter Lynch. In Budapest on the beautiful Blue Danube we see the museums and monuments of Castle Hill, Mary Magdalene Tower, Fishermans Bastion, Royal Palace and Matthias Well. Also we see the Parliament, University, Opera House and Basilica of St. Stephen.
- Spain - Garabandal & Santander
From 1961 to 1965, Our Lady appeared to four children, Conchita, Mari Loli, Jacinta and Mari Cruz. On the 2nd July Our Lady made her first appearance of many on Garabandal. She spoke to them and confided secrets of future events. The main message of Garabandal was a request for mankind to return to God. During the Summer of 1961 the Miracle of the Host took place. Archangel Michael would give the girls Communion, however the host was only visible to the girls. This miracle occurred one day, as Conchita left her house in ecstacy she fell to her knees in the street. People just inches from her confirmed there was nothing on her tongue when suddenly the host became visible. During our stay, we make frequent visits to the Pines and take part in the Masses, Stations of the Cross, and other ceremonies as arranged by our Spiritual Director. A half day tour to Toribio to venerate the largest piece of the true Cross is also included. We will spend 2 days in the fishing village of Santander. Take some time to relax by the beach and take in a sightseeing tour of the surrounding area. On our return to Bilbao airport, we visit the shrine of the miraculous Crucifix in the village of Limpius.
- Switzerland - Wengen, Interlaken & Einsiedeln
Enjoy the fabulous breathtaking scenery that Wengen and Interlaken have to offer. We will take a trip by mountain railway and cable cars to the summit of Schilthorn Peak and take in the majestic scenery while enjoying lunch in a rotating restaurant. Travel to Einsiedeln, an important Marian Shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Visit the Benedictine Abbey and see the statue of the Black Madonna. The statue dates back to the 9th century and many miracles have been attributed to it.
